How to navigate difficult interviews

When the journalist has come for a fight. Stay calm, do not break the format, bridge honestly, and remember they need a quote more than you need to please them.

Difficult interviews come in two shapes. The hostile interviewer with an angle, and the friendly interviewer who keeps drifting into your weak spots. For both, the technique is the same. Acknowledge the question honestly. Do not break the format by going aggressive yourself. Bridge to a message in your three. Land cleanly in under thirty seconds. Repeat.
